Dads Matter Too was selected as one of 7 community arts projects presented to the Wiltshire Community Arts Network tonight. In only 5 minutes Jackie had a lot to say... just time to wave the calendar and DVD at everyone!
Afterwards another artist/presenter came up and said she'd heard about Dads Matter Too on the national news a while back, and immediately googled the blog as she thought it was such a great project! Small world!
She also said she thought Dads support/courses like U-Too's dads-to-be should be available through every GP - good idea!
And very nice to hear it's all going on out there...

Hey Jackie, that's amazing! Well done. What I want to know is how did this come about, and where did it take place, and who else was there???
Over the last few years Wiltshire's District Council arts officers have provided CAT (Community Arts Training) courses for artists, community group leaders, and teachers in the county as part of the support structure for strong delivery through the arts and reaching lots of different people in Wiltshire and beyond. I went on one of the 4-day courses a few years ago, and it was really great to keep uo to date, get creative inspiration and support with the business side of being a practicing artist and meet other people doing similar work.
As you probably know, at the end of this month Wiltshire changes from district councils to one unitary authority. So the event last night was for anyone who'd been involved in the CAT courses/network, district officers and representatives of the new unitary authority to look at the future of community arts in Wiltshire, and as part of that take a quick snap-shot of some of the great projects that have taken place recently.
It was held at the Corn Exchange, Devizes. A good mix of people from across the county braved torrential rain to come along. We really hope that the changeover within the county wont hold up funding for community arts for too long. And we hope there will continue to be a forum, and dedicated officers, to support Wiltshire's many artists who work on short, long and anything in-between (!) projects with different groups in the community.
